This Tuesday, August 31, San Jose’s City Council will decide whether to approve the inadequate environmental review for a significant development on land adjacent to Guadalupe Creek, the “Brookside Estates” development. This proposal has undergone minimal environmental review, contravenes the original recommendations of City staff and the City Planning Commission, violates the City’s creek side protection policy, has the potential to threaten steelhead trout and 82 species of birds, and is being rushed through to avoid more stringent environmental policies that will soon be in place.
Numerous groups are appealing against its approval, including a joint appeal contesting the environmental review filed by Santa Clara Audubon Society and the committee for Green Foothills, as well as Citizens for a Livable San Jose. Please contact the City Council and tell them to stand up for and protect the Guadalupe Creek Corridor and Guadalupe River!
