No killing of park trees

Palo Alto’s most treasured and storied tree spoiled by graffiti.

The coast redwood tree known as El Palo Alto — more than 1,000 years old and recognized as California Historic Landmark No. 2 — was sprayed earlier this week with white and green paint. Graffiti, most of it illegible, also was sprayed on a nearby fence in the park at Alma Street and Palo Alto Avenue.  Read more here.
